Monument to the first Argentine Naval Battle
This monument was built in 1947 on a balcony facing the river at the end of Pellegrini Street and remembers the Argentine Navy battle baptism 2 March 1811. It was unveiled in March 1947 and the ashes of Colonel Juan Bautista Azopardo, the hero of that battle were deposited in the crypt the next year.
The monument is made in order to receive the ashes of Colonel Juan Bautista Azopardo, the hero of that battle which took place on the coast of the city 2 March 1811. It was declared National Historical Monument in 1949.
