Location: Av.Rivadavia 830. San Nicolas
It is located at the first floor of of the National Tango Academy presided by poet Horacio Ferrer and occupies a big space of the Palace Carlos Gardel.
The museum covers the history of tango since 1850 until today, exhibits historic objects belonging to the greatest interpreters and mentors, a collection of scores, original record covers, manuscripts, objects and CDs of the best tango artists. An exhibition of photography made by Annemarie Heinrich related to the famous figures of the tango and motion pictures industry is showed too. There is also a performing stage where young-people tango orchestra plays here every day.
The four sections of the museum cover:
1. Tango history tour from 1850 till the present day
2. The Olympus of glorious characters and homage to creators of tango
3. Image and sound through the ages with music, dance and singing
4. Museum store
This museum is open to visitors providing guided tours in several languages.
