The Monumental Tower, also known by its old nameTower of English, was inaugurated in 1916 in the neighborhood of Retiro.
The Tower is a monument of renaissance style by architect Ambrose Poyner and donated by UK residents to Argentina in commemoration to the centenary of the Revolution of May 1810, so all the material used, as well as technical and skilled workers came from London. In all its four sides can be observed English empire emblems.
The Torre Monumental exhibits in its five halls historical and contemporary photography exhibitions. On the sixth floor has a magnificent vantage point to appreciate different panoramic views of the city.
In 2001 was the reopening and currently works there a Museum Report Center, which guides the public with the offer of Museums of Buenos Aires. Open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 17 pm and Saturday from 10 to 18:30 hs.
